If you are an individual or company seeking new countries to invest in, then chances are that some of the factors that you are looking for is a country that has achieved political and economical stability, good economic growth, a wealth of resources and somewhere that is logistically well positioned
Welcome to Sierra Leone Investments
In 2007 when democratically elected president Ernest Bai Koroma came to power, Sierra Leone had only been at peace for 5 years. The plight of the 11 year civil unrest from 1991-2002 had left the country and the economy in tatters. However nearly 9 years down the line, and two democratically elected leaders later, the government has worked hard to raise the image of this African nation. In fact, Sierra Leone's increased GDP (from 3.2% up to 5%) is a testament to how far this country has come. It is well documented that President Koroma runs his country like a business, and like any good business the ability to initiate change that will take that business onto the next level is the sign of a good leader. It is this need for change that Mr Koroma has refreshingly brought to Sierra Leone and his slogan “we are open for business” shows other world leaders that Sierra Leone is indeed ready.
With the government's pledge to eliminate corruption that was once rife, Sierra Leone is now one of the most stable countries on the African continent and boasts a thriving democracy and fast growing economy. It is English speaking and logistically, positioning couldn't be better, with Sierra Leone lying just 5½ hours from the continent of Europe.
The country has a population of just under 5.5 million and the land is lush, green and fertile. More importantly Sierra Leone has a wealth of resources such as mineral reserves and diamonds, and the country's waters are some of the most under-fished in the world. Just recently in 2009 and 2010 offshore oil discoveries were announced and findings stated that reserves could be significant.
